About

Bienvenue ! My name is Mary and I’m delighted to share a bit more about me.

Originally from France, I now call Bristol home, where I live with my family. My husband and I moved to the United Kingdom in 2019 and found the people we met to be open and caring with a mindset that aligned much better with my own values and vision. Here, we decided to settle down and start a family.

From a very young age, I have been deeply sensitive and guided by strong values regarding Childhood. I am convinced that Children have enormous potential just waiting to emerge in a nourishing and enriching environment, surrounded by respectful adults. This idea is what led me to become an Early Year Educator. For over 10 years now, I have practiced in various nursery settings in France and in England. On the side, I have been studying neurosciences, approaches such as Montessori or Reggio Emilia, and non-violent communication.

I felt however that, in many of the settings, there was a real lack of collaboration with families. I've always enjoyed sharing with parents and discussing their child’s developments, but often ended frustrated by the short amount of time we dedicated to those talks. When the Covid pandemic hit and stringent hygiene measures were put in place, this situation was amplified to its worst. I saw parents struggling, new mothers isolated in their Fourth Trimester, and it saddened me deeply that we were no longer supporting them. It was a time of revelations that brought my life to a turning point. I looked for podcasts and resources on the Matrescence, motherhood and parenting. That’s when I discovered the profession of Doula and it became clear to me: I could help both parents and children in their own home.

While I was figuring out my life path in 2020, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. At that point, I decided to slow down and better listen my body's messages. The focus of my free time became to rediscover myself as a woman, and to heal my body through natural remedies. Meditations and rituals to honour my womanhood guided me through the summer until I managed to alleviate my period pain to almost none. I delved deeply into Sacred Womanhood and found a new part of myself. Encouraged by such progress, I quit my job and signed up to a Postnatal Doula training given by Conscious Birthing. Two weeks before going, I learned that I was about to be a Mother ! Needless to say that pregnancy was sacred to my eyes, and the confirmation that I was on the right path.

Before accompanying families, I decided to focus on preparing my own postpartum with the knowledge I had acquired through the training. Thanks to that, we had a truly serene Fourth Trimester. Unfortunately things became complicated as I struggled with breastfeeding, my husband went back to work and without the support of family, we became more and more exhausted. I never felt more keenly the isolation and lack of support than during that first year as a parent. Although it was a conscious decision to delay my postnatal doula activity to enjoy motherhood, it took over 2 years before I felt ready to start again.

Around the end of 2023, I undertook a second postnatal doula training through Maternité Sacrée, this time focused more on rituals and how to care for the young mother. This was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with myself and my core values, as well as bringing meaning back into my life outside of my role as a Mother.

Today, I am committed to helping young parents and parents-to-be to live a beautiful postnatal period. Through the Postpartum Workshops I aim to share all this knowledge about the still little-known postpartum period in a short and concise manner, while my services as a postnatal doula are made to provide support tailored to young parents who deserve to be surrounded by love and light, in their own home, during this intense transition.
